I don’t understand what kissing is about.

A kiss means a lot to me.  I feel awkward in any kissing situation, perhaps more awkward than in a coitus situation. In a strange way a kiss is more intimate than sexual intercourse.  It seems unlikely even to me, but a kiss somehow means more, even when you give it to an aunt, a former classmate you’ve not seen for a long while, or your parent.  It’s a sign of genuine affection, and sex might not be involved at all.

I wonder what kissing if really all about.  I wonder why we do it.  When I try to be analytical about it, I find it very peculiar, and I wonder what ancient need in nature brought about the act.  Lips to lips, often tongues to tongues… I frankly find it a very odd act.
